Probably the dumbest question of all time, but after numerous trips to the BWCA I've never given it much thought- Has anyone ever had a bear try to get at your Gulp! minnows. powerbait, etc? I've never kept my tackle box/bag anywhere near my tent. I've only had a problem bear ONE time 24 years ago on Ensign/Ashigan Lakes, and it straight up just wanted our food (was a camp bear conditioned to stealing nylon pinata's). Generally , I just lay my tackle box under the canoe with my rods. I guess if the bear wants it, they had better be ready to get a mouth full of treble hooks too!!

Do you use honey-scented plastics? How about Twister Tails that smell like Milky Way bars? No... and no? You're good :) In all the years we've gone, I've never even thought about it.

johndku: "Don't think that's a dumb question at all.
I've never had trouble with it, maybe others? Maybe the smell isn't sweet enough? (my tackle box smells like roadkill)"
Then again.....GULP! does have kind of an off-putting smell. There was a time when one of my fishing buddies coaxed a co-worker into thinking his bag of Salty Lunker Grubs were sugar coated "gummy worms", haha
