Doing a sag red rock alpine loop in 2 weeks. We plan on doing some laker and walleye fishing as we’ve done in the past. I know that lakers can be found in sag. According to lakefinder on the dnr site it also states that Lakers can be found in alpine and red rock but I have never heard of this! Does anyone know anything about this? We usually troll little Cleo’s or spoons of that sort to catch our Lakers. Guess I’ve never tried any other way. Any other tips would be greatly appreciated. Depths, baits, anything would be great. Thank You! Be safe out there

Also curious about some of these questions. Interested in seeing what answers you get.

Alpine does have lakers , and every once in awhile you even hear of a person catching one , but those stories are far and few between.
Jasper maybe be an option for you if you want to catch some lakers on your loop, Jasper lakers run on average #2-#3 , and a descent population of them , they are scrappy ;) and tasty ;)
seagull would be your best option in this area to target/catch lake trout.

We'll be base camping at Ensign in a few weeks. While we're in the area, we'd like to try and catch some lakers also. Are there any lakes with Lake Trout in them, accessible from Ensign?

Knife is a fantastic lake. Been there a few times but I believe we are staying out of it this year

Only one I can think of by ensign that would offer potential for some lakers would be Snowbank

I have used purpledescent tail dancers and they are my go to lure for trout.

Thank you all for the help. Hope you have a great time on your trip and catch a lot of lakers.

I stumbled across this site by accident. Have been reading a lot of informative posts and really appreciate you veterans sharing.
