I would add to this by highly recommending a feature article in In-Fisherman (the one before the last one), extolling the particular virtues of maribou jigs, with lots of details on how to fish them. Article focused on smallmouth, but hey, if they catch walleye as well, so much the better. I learned a lot from that article.
Thanks for mentioning this!

It works all year, but no better time than now to fish the bou jig. If you're on a clear lake, give it a shot. My top lure so far this year again for walleye and smallmouth. "

It is a marabou jig.
Killed the bass and walleyes with it on Mille lacs yesterday and 2 boats near us fishing live bait asked us what’s the magic lure. Outfished live bait 10 to 1.

If you can access it, I'd [again] strongly recommend the In-Fisherman article I mentioned earlier in the thread. It goes into detail about 'quality control' for maribou jigs (not all created equal), and more importantly, exactly the different ways to fish them effectively. I grew up using maribou jigs for crappie in the 1960's; boy, did I have my eyes opened as to their potential after reading that article.

What size you throwing? How long/stiff rod? What liine? Know those can be tough to throw on shorter rods. I usually take a 6'3" medium spinning rod, think that will throw them?
