I am planning a first time solo trip and I see I need to have my canoe registered. This is not required in my state. Does anyone know if this is something I can do at the Tofte station when I pick up my permit or do I need to go to a different office. Newbie so any help would be appreciated.

I will see if I can find the obscure website reference that I came across when I did my first solo in 2017. It said, and I confirmed it after arriving in MN, that if your "home state" for your canoe did not require it to be registered, then you did not need a MN registration.

Will post it as soon as I find it.

Enjoy your first solo! What is your planned trip?

You don't have to. You get like a 90 day grace period if from another state.

Here is the link to MN 2018 statute saying it's not required in MN if your state doesn't require it.

Paddle4hike... please edit your post and use the "Add a link to this message" function. It's pretty easy, but if you need help, just ask.
