I have always gone to "South of the Border" and enjoy the food and the wonderful service. The employees of this restaurant are extremely friendly, efficient, and kindhearted.
What is your go-to breakfast spot before you head out?

McDonald's in Two Harbors is my last meal before I go out.

First meal back is usually the Trestle.

Bluewater Café or the SOB in Grand Marais? I think SOB has more generous portions. Tofte has the little café right on the lake side of the highway. Quick pastry and coffee and potty stop.

Only done it a couple of times, but I usually just grab coffee and pastry from Java Moose.

I rarely eat breakfast in Grand Marais, but enjoy the donut place for an early and fast exit.

This last trip I was in Two Harbors for breakfast on the way up and enjoyed the Vanilla Bean. Great old fashioned Swedish pancakes.

I'm usually further up the trail, so if I'm not staying at Poplar Creek guesthouse, where the best breakfasts in America are, I go to the second best.....Trail Center.

Definitely Blue Water Cafe for blueberry or wild rice pancakes! They also serve Dorothy's root beer there.

If I'm heading to entries off of the Gunflint Trail, I don't stop for breakfast in GM...I head up to Trail Center, and get the Trail Breakfast...yummy

Lockport in Lutsen (gas station/restaurant on the lake side of the highway right before Clearview) has a great breakfast, too. The biscuits and gravy are worth the stop alone.
