Heading up to the Quetico for a week on June 8th and was wondering what food is best to take along for a week thats light and packable as well as inexpensive.
Of course there will be fish, will bring some jerky as well and was thinking maybe some instant potato sides. Any other suggestions?

Google Freezer Bag Cooking. Lots of options for making your own dehydrated meals. Can just add to boiling water in a pot, or pour water right into the bag and eat from the bag.
We also bring hard salami and durable cheese, like an extra sharp cheddar. Gives you good dense calories.
Trail Mix, mixed nuts, etc. too.

My mains are always dirty rice, pasta with dry sauce packets, oatmeal, salami roll, cheese, bread for sandwiches, box of pancake mix, and some of that shore lunch wild rice soup.
Its a ton of food and light.
edit: also pb n j

There should be lots of choices for dehydrated sides on your local grocery store shelves. Finding inexpensive lightweight proteins are a little more challenging. Its probably too late for you to dehydrate your own ground meat “gravel”. Tuna, spam singles, and sometimes chicken can be found in foil packs. Other than that, I have used textured vegetable protein.

We don't fish much so the meals are planned without taking into account any fish additions.
Below is our menu plan for our 8 day trip. It may change if I have time to dehydrate our own stuff, but mostly I make due with grocery store dry ingredients. My son likes lots of goodies available for pancakes and oatmeal breakfast so I pack those in little snack size Ziplocs. I group all ingredients for one meal together in a labeled freezer Ziploc.
We don't do any cook in the bag type meals. All are cooked using a pot or pan.

Some good ideas, mostly food is energy and getting protein when the fish are not biting can be an issue. Foil packed SPAM, chicken and fish are easy to find. Hormel did make a ground beef that was pretty good, but I haven't seen it for a year or more.
Some of us like to separate our meals packing them so each meal is in one bag, others work more of a pantry style. If others are going with you make sure you get their input on the menu, nothing grouchier than a grumbling stomach. Take enough, but there are more reports of taking too much than running out. Our appetites change when our routines change. Ultimately less good food is better than more bad food, and usually weighs less, too.
