I have been leading trips to BWCA for at least 12 years but this has been the toughest year for recruiting people for the trip. I would ideally like 5 or 6, but we only have four, after two recent cancellations. We are males ages 76, 65, 59 and 30ish, from Indiana (3) and Ohio (1). We are entering EP 35 (Isabella Lake) early on Monday, June 24 and coming out at EP 32 (South Kawishiwi River) on morning of Saturday, June 29. We plan to spend two nights on Bald Eagle Lake, two nights on Gabbro and the last night on South Kawishiwi River near the EP 32 exit. We single portage and carry heavy canoes (76 lb. 18.5' Alumnacrafts) and SeaLine 115L ProPacks (loaded to around 60 lbs. each) I provide all the food, gear, and snacks for the trip. You only bring spare clothing and shoes, toiletries, sleeping clothes, sleeping pad and sleeping bag, all of which should weigh 13 lbs. or less and fit in a 40L dry bag. You also can bring a lightweight tent or hammock which is in addition to the 13-lb. limit, or I can provide a lightweight tent for camping. I also provide Mountainsmith Day lumbar packs to each member to carry their personal items, snacks, water and rain gear in, which are worn or carried in addition to a portage pack or canoe on the portages. A fisherman would be great if fishing rod and gear are compact. We lost our designated fisherman. Cost is only $225.00 for the week ($80.00 more if you want a kevlar canoe), which includes Sunday night lodging at a VNO bunk house apartment, camping reservation fees, all the food and equipment needed. We could even pick you up on Sunday, on the way up from Indianapolis, either on an I-65 to I-294 to I-90 route through Chicago area, or a I-74 route to Bloomington, IL, and then up I-39 and I-94 and US 53 through WI. Private message me if you are interested or have questions.
