Heading to Knife for first time next week, super excited to try new water. We generally spend our days trolling Rapala's and evenings hitting reefs to jig eyes as the primary target. Anyone care to share some insights on color schemes that work well for Knife?
Also, never fished lakers before, any suggestions for a few must have laker lures?

There are plenty of better laker-fishers here than me and hopefully some will pipe up, but the three lures I would not go to Knife or most lakers lakes without would be; 1- Rapala Tail Dancer in blue, 2- Rapala Deep Tail Dancer in purple, and 3- Little Cleo spoon in blue and silver. Caught most of my lakers on these three. Not sure if they are deep or shallow now. If not using a finder, I'd start shallow and just keep going deeper.

We were just on Knife for the first time ever last week. We did not catch any lakers, it sounds like I might have been fishing too deep. We caught some nice pike while laker fishing which was odd, and we did find a good walleye spot in a shallow bay. They liked purple/chart plastic on a jig more than they did slip bobber and leech. Fish shallow top waters for smallies

We ended up mainly fishing Ottertrack and spent some time on Knife. We caught Lakers on Knife on blue Tail Dancers and jigs with white tails. Great area, fishing was decent on Ottertrack with quality fish. Pretty area and a lot like fishing in an aquarium due to clarity.

Seems like my nicest pike always have come while fishing for lake trout. Probably because we are always on the edge of reefs out in the deep water with very big lures trying to catch trout. I'm sure the large females hang out on those reefs and nail the lure as it goes by.
