There was a conversation on here about homemade jigs but for some reason I could not find it again. Anyways thought I'd show you all some of my dads fine jigheads that he makes. I couldnt even guess how many plano boxes full of these he has, I pretty much never have to buy a jig head lol I'll be putting some of these to good use next week, entering Snowbank this Sunday.

Those look a lot nicer than mine. Someone put some TLC into those. Happy hunting.

Nice looking jigs. Short shank hooks with no barb on the collar, used for live bait?

The hook eyes are nice and clean too, with no paint. Does your dad use powder paint or liquid? What's his technique for keeping the hook eyes clean?

For powder painting I sometimes put a small ball of sculpey clay over the hook eye which hardens when heating the jig, but crumbles off easily with a pliers leaving no paint.

For the eyes, I'm guessing he used different size nail heads and liquid paint. Time consuming, but satisfying when you catch fish on a bait you made yourself.

Nice job!

Yes the short shank no collar barb ones are for live bait, he does lots with longer shank hooks and a barb on the collar for twistertails also.

Been a few years since I have helped him but what he used to do was push a toothpick into the hook eye and break it off then dunk in the paint. After the paint dries he uses a cloth with some paint remover and cleans the hook eye. Hes done powder paint and liquid before, not sure what these ones are.

Id have to double check but i think the eyes are stick ons, hes painted them on before and have bought the stickers and the stickers look better and dont take nearly as long.
