This is an amazing trip report! You had me with the first stunning photograph, and I thoroughly enjoyed your report, in spite of the fact that we never fished on our trips, so the parts about fishing were like a foreign language to me! :-)

Back in June of 1992 we did a 22-day trip in the BWCA. It was a wonderful experience, and I totally agree with you that about the 12th day you begin to be acclimated and to really relax. I didn't want that trip to end, and still look back on it with great nostalgia.

Thanks for taking the time to share all of this, and thanks for your beautiful pictures, too! Outstanding!

I'll have what you two had! What num-num meals.

I gained 4 pounds reading this great report!

Very entertaining and I loved the pics to help tell the story. You're pretty funny too. "it had the consistency of vomit". That cracked me up and I will definitely stay away from any mountain house breakfast! All that is missing is the imaginary video of the slug race. :)

I also see that the gas can is still at the island on Joyce Lake. I stayed there in 2011 and found that well in back of the camp. Good job on cleaning up after the bozos too. Let's see how many years the old hiking boots will remain there. :)

Thanks for posting, I enjoyed it.

Great trip report. Thanks for sharing.

Nice trip report and photos. That "stinky camp" on Poohbah has been getting worse over the years due to the fishermen who fly in from Lac La Croix. A few years ago we found the remains of over 50 walleyes on that site.

The type of folks who fly in to Poohbah are definitely not there for the wilderness experience...

Great trip report, enjoyed reading it.
PS, like your Yosemite hat!! I live 25 miles south of the south entrance to the park.

Awesome Trip Report!! I felt like I was watching a video of your trip. Your story of this trip was told wonderfully with words and photo's. Just glad it was words with the nudist dudes and not a photo. :)

Wow, this is as good as any report I've ever read. A treat to read - thank you for making this and wow, what a trip you had. Awesome.

Thanks for taking the time to write this up. The photos turned out great.

Looks like you are some kind of real back country gourmet. Also, looks like you are doing the baking with the fry bake?

Nice trip and nice report.

Yup, Banks Fry-Bake Pan with an aluminum diffuser plate and a shortened Pot Parka. The one they sell now is too long. Thanks for the gourmet comment, mostly I just think it's fun and my favorite type of food is "a lot" so I'm motivated to make it happen. In truth, it's pretty straight forward with the right equipment (but don't tell anyone). Give it a try! Really nice to have fresh baked goods on longer trips.

Thanks for the great trip report! My only disappointment was that Tony did not agree to the slug races. That would have been epic. Oh and the other disappointment was that camp on Poohbah, I was thinking what arctic said, it's from the fly-in fisherfolk. I don't like to generalize but it does seem that that particular segment of the "market" is not all that LNT minded.

Time for more trips and reports!

This is the best trip report I've ever read! Great photos, great food reports (we'll be trying a couple new things next month thanks to your comments), lots of humor when it would have been easy to gripe about rain and/or bugs. Like Ho Ho, I feel the slug races would have a good way to pass gear-drying time.
