Thanks for the heads up Marten. I'll be keeping a closer eye on it. We decided to go to the N/E part of the park this year. Hopefully, they'll get some of our rain.
Safe travels.......Mike

Not unexpected but, still...bummer.

Hope it is short-lived - looks like rain may be on the way.

I was surprised to hear in Harlan's latest video that float planes were grounded due to the smoke; people trying to fly in couldn't and people in the park ready to leave having to wait. Hope the wind shifted the next day.

We we're picked up on Wrist Wednesday afternoon. The flight was about 3 hours behind, Harlan said we were the first group in a few days to get out on time with some groups having been delayed up to four days getting out or waiting for canoes.

We spent two days in a pretty deep haze breathing smoke and ash from the fire 50 miles north. It was a bit unsettling but thankfully the winds shifted and then the rains came a couple of days later.

Bring extra food and always carry emergency communication, Ontario is a wild place.

Wow, do you normally set your tarp up above your tent, or did you do that specifically because of the ash and embers?

It was blazing hot on Jigsaw when we got there and since it's a burn area there isn't any shade, only bare rock to pitch the tent. The sun disappeared and the shade tarp turned into an ash cover.

We only deployed the bug net our last couple nights on Wrist to keep a few black flies and bees at bay. I could not believe how few bugs we saw compared to the WI mosquito massacre the weekend before. Virtually mosquito-free for 10 days. Heaven!

Joe Robinet just put up video of his trip through WCPP. It shows the smoke, rain, etc.
