Hi there all. I’ve lurked for years now I’m on board.

I’ve paddled Mad River Rd canoes for 30 years. I found a Wenonah 18’ Sundowner that has been hanging in a barn for 15 years. Was told it’s fiberglass and zero problems.
The picture shows some stain, but not sure about them.

Any thoughts on the boat/hull material/hanging for years?

$400 price tag. I’m going to look (buy) it tomorrow

Thanks!

Also. My first BWCA trip is this fall!!!

Sundowners are nice boats, and would be great for the BW. I had one in the 80s, and just bought one for my daughter. If it doesn't have bad cracks, etc., $400 is reasonable. I have a Wenonah I bought new in 1983, and it's been used hard, and it still performs and is reliable. Pretty? dunno about that.....

I've got one with webbed seats that I paid $300 for about eight years ago, though it's a bit more beat up than yours. Mine has held up well, though it only gets about 10 paddle days per year. Carefully check for any stress fractures along the gunnels where it was hanging. Considering the one you're looking at has the tractor seats and appears in better shape than mine, $400 is a fair price

I have one - Kevlar-been using it in the BWCA for years. It is a good stable boat, tracks pretty well on open water, doesn't like tight corners (rivers and creeks) and is pretty wide at the center. I think the $400 is very reasonable. Heck, that is what you would pay for a used Grumman. Might be pretty heavy by today's standards.

Iv’e paddled one. It’s a solid, stable hull. Seems like a deal.

...so did you have one amputated??? Or maybe you just like to hop on one side?
