My wife and I with another couple went in at Sawbill and base camped at the island site on Burnt in early June this year. Nice site with slip bobber options all around from camp. We got into them pretty good in the narrows between the islands and around the big rocks to the south. We day tripped to Flame and saw a moose one late morning. We initially considered going for the lone site on Flame, but the folks at Sawbill said they had sent two groups that way earlier in the week. After seeing the site, i think the island on Burnt suited us better. We also day tripped to Jack/Kelly and got a few walleye between the portage and the rapids on the far north end of Kelly. We found the old gold mine between Jack and Kelly, although not much to see. The portage from Kelly to Burnt is longer, but by no means horrible, although there were three large trees across the trail in early June the we had to duck and lift canoe over. We found the trip enjoyable for the two first-timer wives. Abundant wildlife, somewhat secluded, easy enough to get to, and the fishing was solid.
