I thought I once heard about a portage between Entry 16 and Nina Moose Lake that was not always necessary? Can anyone speak to this?

When we went through there this spring there was a short necessary portage that was not on the map and one portage around a beaver dam that I think was on the map that could be skipped, depending on water level and your willingness to push over a beaver dam. Water was high and portages were very muddy in places when we were there. I would not have been comfortable skipping the longer portages.

Thank you for the insight!

My BIL was there this past weekend. I'll query him and report the result.

(Nearly) real-time report:

“There are 2 large mud holes on the first portage from EP16 to the river and the area at the north end of the first portage north of that is quite muddy but otherwise they are fine. There are several small beaver dams across the river but they all have passable channels over them, at least at the water level we encountered.”
