Nice pitching jobs. It is always good to keep ideas about other ways to set up a tarp. I've also thought about taking a tent fly for a shade/rain shelter. Always good to think about different ways of doing things.

Tomcat: "In addition to a tent I prefer freestanding or pole supported shelters that are not limited by availability or location of trees for placement. They have proven to be compact, reliable, and convenient.

I am not seeking to debate the pros and cons of tree or tree free, I just want to share ideas with like minded members.

Is this a kelty noah's tarp with kelty adjustable poles?

I love all the ideas and pictures. This is an area I would like to get more proficient at.

Love the concept but curious how the setup is if you're solo. Probably a little ingenuity makes it work for solo setup.
