I have scheduled my permit for the last week in September to be picked up at Kawishiwi lodge but I have found out they will be closing a week earlier. Is there another lodge nearby that has a bunk house or a campground.

Thanks

Fenske lake cabins have a bunkhouse maybe 30 minutes away not sure if they will still be open. It is 8 or so miles up the echo trail.

There is a very nice campground at Fall Lake which is close (about 15 miles) to the Lake One lading. The Recreation.gov web site says it is open until Oct 6.

Northwind Lodge is right on the Fernberg Trail and pretty close by. Not sure if they have bunkhouses but you might be able to get a one-night rental on a cabin that late in the season.

Other nearby lakes with lodges and outfitters are Snowbank Lodge and Outfitters on Snowbank or the outfitters on Moose such as La Tourells, William and Hall, and Canadian Borders.

I know nothing about any of these except for enjoying occasional stops by Red Rock Wilderness Store to see Joe's art. They also run the Northwind lodge. I was just curious because I like the area.

However, it's only about 30 or so minutes from Ely to Lake One. So you could also look at the bunkhouses there such as at Voyageur North. A lot of people speak highly of their bunkhouses.
