Planning on being on SAK Wednesday. Looking for a grand slam.
I'm not a great fisherman, so looking for some advice on lake trout & walleyes.
Where should I be looking for them, how deep, what's catching them, and presentation.
Thanks,
Captn

I would troll open water 30' deep for LT. If there is any wind cast rocky banks for walleye. Or troll along shorelines at dawn and dusk in 10 FOW for eyes.

Agree with AmarilloJim.

You might also bring white tubes and big bucktail jigs -- think 2 ounces, which can be drifted or jigged fairly deep. If you can get your hands on some frozen cisco it wouldn't hurt to add a chunk to one of the hooks! Even oily sucker could help.

Can't help with SAK specifics as I've never fished it. Good luck!

Just got back from knife, Amarillojim is spot on! Most of the lake trout I was marking were in the 35-40ft deep range. I still caught some big smallies at dusk on top water.

Thanks for the information. I will heading up tomorrow. If you see 3 guys in a Souris Quetico paddle on over and say hi.
I'll give a fishing report when I get back.

CT if your in the SAK , give toe lake a try , just pike & smallies & a LMB from time to time , but the smallies are beautiful and most run in that upper #3-#4
a lot of pike in that #2.5-#4 range but make no mistake about it , toe does hold some pike big ,, some,,,
a very cool little lake thats worth a visit.
when you come back out of toe , troll the gut with a big heavy spoon and you'll have 3 of your 4 , for your grandslam , the walleye is on you ;)

I'm back!
Fishing was average for August. We did catch some nice size fish and my brother & I caught a grand slam. I caught a 19" smally & a 6.5" laker. Lyonty caught a 22" smally, 5 lb. walleye, & a 8 lb. northern.
Thanks for the info.
