We're heading up to base camp on Insula on August 23rd. What's the latest on the mosquito situation that last week or two?

Thanks!

Just got back and was surprised at little to no flies and pretty much only skeeters at dusk. Didn’t use bug dope all week.

I'll be on Insula Aug 21 and moving onto Ima on Aug 23. Won't be able to give you a bug report but at least you'll know there will be a campsite free at some point that day!

Was up through Mudro, Sandpit, Tin Can Mike, Horse last weekend and was surprised at how few mosquitoes we encountered. Black flies were a little pesky when the sandals were on, but all and all, not bad. A few skeets at dusk but little to none during the morning and daytime hours. I did however treat our clothing with permethrin and had the 40% backwoods on hand during the portages.

Not all black flies are Blackflies. If they were hanging around your feet those were Stable Flies aka Ankle Biters.
