I was glad to read that the boys had a good time. Hopefully they will want to go back again and will challenge themselves to getting into shape. I agree that it's not as easy as many people make it look. On 3 of my last 4 trips I was well over my "ideal" weight. I struggled but still had fun. Before my trip this year I had dropped close to 40 lbs. and was amazed how much easier it was. With a little conditioning, training, and a positive attitude anything is possible.

Sounds like the scouts and adults had a great time. Thanks for the report.

Love seeing trip reports of Scouts going to the BW or Q. I took three crews from our Troop quite a few years ago now - two crews did routes in the BW and our crew did a route in Q. All three crews had a great time. We went through the Northern Tier National High Adventure base on Moose Lake and had a great experience.

Thanks for your report and for getting young folks into the BWCA! Others at this site have dealt with the sleep apnea issue. Here is one link and/or you can use the search function in the ribbon above.

There is nothing I love more than helping kids learn to enjoy the outdoors (well, maybe my wife). The 3 boys with me had hardly touched a fishing rod before this trip. All learned enough to earn the fishing merit badge. My son, even had more experience fishing than the other two adults.

I have a battery setup that I use on weekend camping trips. It will give me 3 full nights of sleep. I didn't use it this trip for fear of the weight. Knowing what I do now, I would have found a way to get it packed in. Even with only 3 nights, I'd have had a better trip.

I did have a couple of mouth devices that worked ok at home. They didn't help much while in Boundary, though.

Thanks for introducing more kids to the BWCA. My love of the area is what motivated me to drop 50 lbs. before our trip this summer. And I stepped up my conditioning. It made a world of difference.

So glad each of the kids caught a fish. How fun for them!
