Hey folks - hope everyone is doing well. Finally pulled the trigger on two used kevlar canoes (Spirit 2 and MN 3). So now I have four canoes...lol...and was planning on building an exterior canoe rack for the garage. I know, ideally, I'd store the kevlars in the garage - but it sure would free up room to have them on a rack outside. Is that a big no-no? I thought maybe if I had my aluminum's on the top racks, and the Kevlars below...it would reduce the wear. Or maybe add a simple roof to the whole rack? Or is it worth it to re-organize the whole garage to keep them indoors (that MN3 sure is long)? Would appreciate the advice...though I think I know the answer already lol.

Indoors or outdoors doesn't matter- just keep them out of the sun. An extended awning, or a thick cover is in order.

I think outdoors would be fine as long as you keep the sun off. If I were to build a rack outside I'd make sure to add some sort of roof to keep the canoes out of the elements. Depending on how you build it the best place to store the kevlars may be on the top rack tucked up tight under the roof so its never in the sun.

Alu on top and drape a blue tarp over it so that it covers the boats below..

Yep, what they said. Also make sure that they don't t get snow load or snow load drop on them like from a garage or house roof.
