Oh, my gosh! If anyone hasn't tried Packit Gourmet, I highly recommend them, and their Tortilla Soup. AMAZINGLY good! Like, no seriously... it was GOOD!

I'm in no way affiliated w/ this company, this is just my honest review.

Shug is a big fan of Packit Gourmet and he did a video of his food pack and here he's talking about them.

Not gonna lie, I'm a HUGE Shug fan, and thats where I heard about Packit Gourmet in the first place.

I have an IMUSA and Foster Beer pot from his posts, and its all awesome!

Packit Gourmet is all we use on our trips now. Dottie’s chicken and dumplings is one of my favs. Sheppard’s pie is pretty good too.

I but food from the often. They have some great items. Their "no heat" needed to reconstitute items aren't bad either. I find it easier to buy condiment packets from them rather trying to scrounge them up by eating out. Plus they carry different types of packaging that can help save weight and cost if you buy bulk freeze-dried items.

Same here. I got into hammock camping back in 2009 because of him. I’m pretty sure I tried Packit Gourmet maybe 5 years ago but I don’t remember what I had. I know they can be pricey though.

Well it is pricey and but pricey in relative to what? Its really good and good value for what you get. I like the gumbo and the shepherds pie and find the sandwich salads really tasty.

You can always have ramen another night!

I love there Shepherds Cottage Pie. Their All American Hamburger is great although a bit too much pepper. I get some extra mayo and ketchup packs the hide the pepper taste. They make several different Chicken Salads that make great cold lunches. I also like the fact they come in single serving for those of us that like to solo. They change it up every year with a few new offerings.

Packit Gourmet Texas State Fair Chili is one of my favorites

Love their Puttanesca, the Gumbo and their Bolognese.

Have some packed in the food bag for departure later this week...

We bring no fresh food, and Packit Gourmet makes up the bulk of our food that isn't fish.

Do these meals require much simmering and cooking, or are they the "just add boiling water" type?

Some are multi step but it is add boiling water to the bag . Sometimes it is two bags and there is an additional seasoning bag that you can use as much of as you want. It is simple to make but not all mixed together.. For the pie its nice to have polenta you can recognize as polenta and the topping and gravy you can recognize as another component vs the mix in one bag ( that your stomach sees)

Thanks. You answered my question. I like to avoid foods that require much more than a few minutes of simmering. I cook solely with a stove and want to conserve fuel. This brand sounds ideal.

Hey Mike!
So, for example, I boiled aprox 1.5 cups of water on my pocket rocket 2 stove (which only took 2 minutes) and then dumped the soup contents into my IMUSA #10 pot, and let it set for 10 minutes. The Packit Gourmet came with dehydrated Monterey cheese + tortilla, true lime, and chulula sauce to top with. Lets talk more in detail if we can on 9/24.
