I am looking at purchasing the Red Pine Mapping BWCA/ Quetico PaddleNav download.
This would be for the GPS, NOT the phone app.
It looks like what we need for a backup to our maps and compass. I have emailed them to ask if updates will be available in the future, but no one has responded.
Does anyone know if updates have been available or will be available? Thanks in advance.

I haven’t tried to get a response in years but they never updated their iPhone app so it is useless now. Never got a response back in several attempts. Not that I navigated with it but used it for planning. If they don’t respond soon I’d look elsewhere.

Purchased and downloaded the iPhone app. From what I could find, there was not an interface to download the maps to use offline or in airplane mode. Used in airplane mode, the app did not center and display my current position (used at an entry up the Gunflint trail). The app centers around the eastern part of Basswood Lake. I had to scroll to my appropriate area manually, which was inconvenient. Since I could manually scroll, I expected the center and track icon to do that for me, which it did not, it just cleared the screen.
The campsites and portages were marked, but no descriptions were given.
As a general reference, it was worthy only as a back up map. Not worth the the download price that I paid.
The Navionics app remains the most useful app that I own. Portages and campsites are not marked, but one can download various maps for offline use.

The Red Pine map does not appear updated but same for a lot of other maps hardbound or software. It does compare favorably with current Chrismar Fisher and McKenzie Maps.
