I am going to base camp soon on Gabbro. Is there cell service there?

I know we are supposed to go out and deflate and not need to talk to the outside world but I really want to have the option. I had brain surgery last year....I am fully recovered with no further Dr visits (benign growth popped in my brain) but just a little nervous about not being near a phone. If there is not cell service I will rent a satellite phone for emergencies. I believe I have read that the new ATT tower covers Gabbro.

We've had excellent Verizon service going back to 2011 on the peninsula sites on the north side of Gabbro -- ie. sites 1710, 1715. (My wife likes to be able to call her dad each night.) On our latest men's group trip on Gabbro last month, both AT&T and Verizon users were surprised to find service as good or better than at home.

Yes, expect that some folks here will be ready to chastise you for such blasphemy, but there are times...

We were there a couple years ago, camped on the site at the site just east of the narrows where the lake opens up (#1711) and we were able to text and send photos from there with no problem. Did not try an actual call. If there's an issue you are not far from the car. Best of luck, hope you enjoy the trip. Gabbro is very nice and good fishing.

You can get service on Gabbro but spotty. You may need to paddle around to know where you get the best service. I have att and I do her service there.

I had great T-Mobile service at far end of Bald Eagle fwiw. Did convince me to leave phone in car thereafter. An hour long conference call for work.

I was there in May with my son. We had service while camped on Gabbro and Bald Eagle with AT&T

We were there Aug. 12-19 and were always able to get service with our att phones. That being said we usually kept them on airplane mode. No desire to be bothered.

Can't speak of this year on Gabbro, but went up last year and had decent cell service most places on the lake.
