I had a Nemo Nano. It was the worst tent I have ever owned. Anyway, the fabric is in a landfill somewhere but I kept the stakes and poles.
Pondering a clever use of the tent poles on my upcoming trip. Maybe use in conjunction with a tarp for an extended vestibule or something. Casting about for ideas...
Any thoughts?

I recently used a set of poles from a tent a nephew gave me for a portable shower. The poles from the fly were used to form a hoop that the top of the shower tarp is fastened to. Using carabiners through the grommets, It's hung from a rope over a tree limb. Planning to use the tents 3/8" main poles for uprights to make it free standing. Going to try 1/2" aluminum tubing to make fittings for a roof like structure.
As a side note I used a hand sprayer with a spray nozzle connected to the end for a pressurized water supply.

Interesting. When fully engaged, these poles will break before making a hoop. HOWEVER, you have given me an idea. I can design a connector with an appropriate angle so that the links of the pole can form a polygon of some sort...another good use for my 3D printer!

I made a portable shower and used aluminum tent pole for towel hanger.
"
Reckon I can get that in a canoe?
Nice work.

I saved 3 long poles from a old Sierra Design tent. On my last trip I adjusted the bungy cord to include about 5 sections and brought it along to prop up one end of my ridge line tarp. Whenever the ridge line has to go a long distance between trees the tarp seems to want to flutter more in the wind and droop a bit. With one end closer to a tree and the poles propping up the other end just a bit, it was much more stable and a little higher. The poles were in a bit of an arc rather than straight, but that did not matter - justabsorbed some of the winds energy.

TechnoScout: "Bannock: "Blowgun."
Where do I get the poison darts???"
Darts are easy made from heavy duty sewing or riggers needles and a fluff of cotton or such (made lots of darts and blowguns as an industrial kitchen worker cooking 2000 pound batches of caramel).
The poison part I'll let you figure out, say a trip to Brazil for some dart frogs?
Poles I save for repairs and frame construction. Have even bought used damaged tents just for the aluminum frame poles, used up all my arrow shaft remnants.
An assembled pole section does make a great long reach for tarp rigging and hanging lines, as Savage Voyageur mentions.
