Very nice report and a beautiful family! Brule is a great place to take young kids--I think our second trip was there when are boys were very young. We went with some friends and their two young daughters.
The down-side of that lake is the difficulty in finding campsites in summer. Daily entry point quotas are too high.

I also thought that Arctic. They should reduce the number allowed. However that would also have locked me out this year lol but I do feel it is too high. 7 +3 for 10 a day and I initially thought most of the 7's would move onto other lakes though I am not sure that is the case. I now feel the majority of the 10 total stay on Brule and day trip other areas.

Way to go Dad!
I took my three daughters on their maiden BWCA trip starting at Brule Lake as well. First day a little rough, but by day two and portage two they were loving it, carrying packs, and never looked back! 30 years later, while paddling Mississippi River backwaters with the youngest, now 38 years old, she thanked me for showing her the wonderful natural world out there...

Great looking family ! Glad you had a good trip. I can relate to the packing issues.....I always seem to be at the last minute stressing over what I have packed, or didn't pack. I stress later over what I have forgot, usually when I need it.
