So, I've been going up memorial weekend the last 4 years and do pretty good. This year was tough with lots of rain, cool temps, very cold water. We managed fish, but no where near the last few years. This will be my first trip this late in the year. We are headed to Pine Lake, John, and maybe East Pike. Weather shows 7-10 MPH winds west/nw. Highs in the 60's, lows in the mid 40's. Taking kids this time and just want to get them on fish, any fish. If we could get them a couple nice pike and some decent smallies, they would be set. A walleye or two for dinner and the trip would be awesome. WE have gotten some decent lake trout on Pine in the past, but not going to head that way unless the wind is manageable. I assume the LT would be deep yet also, in the spring they were pretty shallow. Any tips appreciated.
I would just troll cranks out past the first break. Should catch all the NP you want. Do the same at dawn and dusk and could add some eyes. You caught LT on Pine recently? I thought they had all but disappeared in there.
yes, we caught 6-8 memorial weekend 2018, that was the most we caught in the past though. We figured we were not fishing correctly, lol. Thanks for the tips. Morning and evening top water action?
Kids, fishing, John lake would be my bet. Nice perch, actually nice everything and small water. I would bring crawlers and take the necessary steps to keep them alive if you really wanted to catch walleyes for dinner.
