Greetings!I did a search of past posts on radios, but I would like some current information. Been causally looking for a quality radio for a decent price for awhile but things have become more urgent. I'm curious if anyone has listened to college football games in the BWCA specifically Lac LaCroix area. I thought I planned our annual adventure for the bye week but of course our plans changed and entry date will be game day (Iowa vs. Iowa State).
Do I stand a decent chance of listening to this game? What radio would you recommend to maximize my odds of listening in?
Thank you all in advance for your opinions.

If it’s that important, wait a day and watch it on TV in Ely.

Who are you for?

Entry points are limited and It's not that important. I'd sure like to listen to the Hawkeyes while in Paradise.

I used my radio for the first time on last falls 27 day solo. It was not on LLC though, but most lakes on FM only got WELY. AM was not good until after dark I got tons of stations including Des Moines, Chicago, St Louis, and what I guessed as a french speaking station from Quebec. So if the game is after dark you have a good chance but otherwise I'm guessing you have low odds.

A couple years ago on a Thursday night in August up on Crooked, I think I picked-up local AM radio networks for all 4 NFC North teams at the same time on a cheesy old AM-FM radio...any national broadcast is bounced all over the country? A local college broadcast would depend on the size of the network it's on?

Update: Gameday Friday September 14, We utilized Anderson's out of crane lake for a tow to Lac Lacroix. Camp set up around noon and we were setting hooks a little after 1pm. Early evening I wasn't able to pick up any station broadcasting the game. Luckily for me lightning had delayed the game so the game reached into the night. After filling our bellies with steak and potatoes I was able to enjoy a Hawkeye win on 600am I believe out of Cedar Rapids. It was an amazing kick off to a great trip!

It's too bad humans can't find a way to disconnect. Just let it go.
You can't hear crickets and loons when a radio is on.

I got to agree with you. I will never bring a weather radio again. Too many times the group has voted to leave a day or two early because of a report.
