Likely headed through there solo in a few weeks going from Cherokee to Brule. Not a huge fan of doing those portages solo but want to see the lakes, especially if some color is already popping.
I went through there with my wife and 2- 20s year old sons. It was challenging but fun trip. We didn't find it to be any more difficult than any other portages in the area.
Not lately but spring 2017, awesome area, just watch your step lots of big boulders on a few of the portages, if water is lower shouldn't have a problem with water I think on last portage to brule, couple two or three waterfalls when water is higher, couple cool rock areas where hills came down.
