Spent a week on lake One with the grands. While we were not too affected, camps within this area were usually filled each night. The question is: When is the last time anyone saw a bear in this area?

I'd imagine bears are all over in that area. Popular entry lake normally brings new people in as well as people who don't really follow all the rules and are more careless as far as keeping a clean camp.

Were the campsites filled with people or bears? I seem to recall several problem bears in the Lake 3 and Rifle area. Suspect they were removed though.

We were having lunch at one of the campsites on Lake Two near the portage to Lake One on 9/8. We heard something big crashing through the woods, but saw nothing.

We ran into bears on Lake Three a few years back, they hit four other sites that same night. I think this is a trouble spot where you should be diligent until you move out of the area.

Just an opinion, but I'd say loud crashing is more often a moose than a bear. Moose dont seem to care how much noise they make, but bears often move through the woods in silence.

Yep, I thought is could be either a moose or a bear.

Last year we encountered a bear on the Moose River North entry point in the middle of the day and it made quite a ruckus, crashing through the woods.

Didn't the Packers beat the Lake One Bears a couple weeks ago? :)

Ouch! :)

I'm pretty sure the it was a combo of the Packers and the Bears beating themselves.
