We did a loop in the first half of September starting at Beaverhouse, down the Maligne river, through Darkwater and the south end of the park, up Agnes and out at French Lake. Thirty nine lakes, several creeks and rivers, a few marshes and bogs, some beaver dams and a bunch of portages. It was the first long traveling trip I have done. My usual trip is less moving and more fishing but this was the opposite. Next time I do a traveling trip I will pack lighter and not try to do as much along the way.

Seems like you need to be content with enjoying the lakes you paddle through, the trails you walk and the campsites where you stay the night. Having said that I am pretty sure my next trip will include a lot of days, a short route and a whole bunch of June bass fishing. Next year won't get here fast enough.

I did not take many photos but here are a few from the trip you might like.

The fire picture is my favorite

The campfire picture is tricky. You have to throw just the right amount of twigs in to get the people lighted and then hold still because the shutter is open for a couple of seconds. That was one of our few clear evenings.

Very nice photos. I like all of them but esp the frog or toad. Great route too!

I like the toad also. He is a beautiful rich red and blends in perfectly with the pine needles. I like the way his eyes protrude from his head also. He was a good photo subject and sat pretty still for me. Frogs like to hop or swim away.
