I'm guessing he's waiting for the go-ahead to bring the permanent shack out. I think the marina just started letting wheelers out. They're finding areas of 4.5" all the way up to 9" of ice depending on the snow levels.

Flew over Waconia yesterday. I saw no permanent houses. Saw people walking out from the west/ south west end of the lake. Didn't seem much for tracks out in the middle.

I did a firework show for the city one year off the island.

no not yet , i'll be waiting until i can drive out, been dealing with back/leg pain so no more hoofing it out there , although a friend did walk out last saturday but didnt stay very long with no shelter ;) , conditions are good for making ice , as the gopher stated up to 9" in no snow areas and intowne marina did open to ATV already. not sure if the marina will open to vehicles this weekend but i'm sure soon.
i have had my tip up rigs ready , some with some new ice line (went back to the old braid style)(the black coated ice line is nice for not sticking to the ice but after a year or two on the spool it gets a bit curly doesnt lay straight) others with new leader material and 1 new jig/hook combo , i'll add a pic of that, they have some serious glow to them.
but yes me and my clan is ready ;)

I like those glow jigs. I've got a hundred jigs that don't glow. Haven't tried one on in years.

Jig that is

12/17/2019 06:40PM
the jig itself is just a very small crappie spoon , and added a glowbead treble hook to it. this set up is a little bit lighter/smaller than my other rigs. something for those smaller shiners.

Yogi, here's some pics of some older jigs i fixed up , one is glow on gold which i call Jesus the 2nd one is glow on silver that i call Tom Brady ,
just score up the surface paint and dry , as you see this brand of glow paint is very effective with the glow and adhesion. Jesus was hot last year ;)

I'll share this with everyone (practice CPR with the big girls - oh yes believe) these Clam jigs have been very successful for us, too. The weasel has also done well.

But back to the Clam jigs. The glow on these are off the charts. I have many color combinations, but a glow is always put out at night. Clam jig

Will Adam filet the fish or pickle it? How are the pike out of Waconia for eating?

Saw a truck on Parkers lake in the west metro Sunday.

he'll filet it up boneless , and they taste great out of waconia ,

Truck that went through was a few weeks ago. Parked on the ice near shore by the landing in Wagners Bay. Only a couple feet of water at most. Looked like they didn’t have too much trouble getting it out.

alright i lied , i said i was only going to add that 1 pic.
1st pike (adam's) caught on the weasel(#12) , 2nd pike (34")(#10) caught on a pink clam. which i mentioned earlier in the post .
JS (w/link)
this is my son n law (timothy) who is from colorado and knew nothing about ice fishing, and is very happy he married into the family because i have created two ICE FISHING MONSTERS in adam and timothy , :)'
as Denny Green would say the system is working how it's suppose to work ;) as far as a ice report . intowne marina is doing a lengthy report today and should be allowing vehicles through their access by this weekend , my friends saw 10"-12" everywhere on monday

yes intowne marina did open their access to cars and small trucks today 1-10-20
time to get I.F.U. out there ;)

my son n law just broke his PB in back to back outings , this 1 was #14 CPR.
he took his two old Navy buddies out who had never ice fished before and was fortunate enough to hook into a nice one ! and also a 19" eye after sundown on a flag.
just had to share ;)

I've seen guys photo-shop pics to hide their identity or whereabouts for fishing pictures, but that's the first I've seen where guys disguise themselves.
You got a heck of a spot or two there! :)

that is Freak'n hilarious , when i saw the pic , i thought thats kind of a weird look from Tim , but just figured he was aging like us ;)
i still get pleasantly surprised with our success as a group , he who puts in the most time usually gets rewarded. and that can go for almost any lake ;)
yes in the late 90's i did a lot of hoofing around and found a very small break/depth change in this area and i believe it acts as a funneling type feature.

Hey Shock .... on these clam spoons, what size leader are you using when tipping with sucker minnows or shiners?

Cretbo we're definitely not finesse fishing , (for the most part) targeting walleyes usually #10 triline and on the large sucker set ups , after trying many, i finally decide to roll with #20 XT triline , very tie-able and it's tough stuff. , i think Tim got that larger pike on #8, he said he had to play it awhile.
i'll add this , i do not use any type of weight on the line just the weight of the willow jig which is 3.5 grams , whether i have a 3" sucker or a 8"sucker , the only difference is the size of the treble for larger pike, or should i say larger bait.

i get together ice fishing once a season with an old friend of 30years and about 8 BW trips together.
we always seem to do good when he and his son join us ,and had a nice overcast calm day with some big fluffy snowflakes here and there,, but still wasn''t expecting this(caught on a gold/red stripe weasel) along with 3 pike over #5
the hits keep coming , but like i have said before Adam puts in more time than anyone in our group. and he was rewarded today,
