Hello everyone, we will be saying our vows near the boundary waters August of 2021,
We had thought of Honeymoon Bluff as the spot, but are there any other options for a Great view (at sunset), that can hold the wedding party ( groom, bride, our 4 daughters- the bridesmaids and our 2 sons- the groomsmen, and the pastor)..to be cleared will need options that do NOT require a permit....we will begin our trip into the BWCA the next day (permit required).

We paddled past it last year. Nice looking spot, but it's at least a half day into the BWCA involving a fair bit of paddling and some rather easy portages. (and maybe a tow on Moose Lake) I believe Honeymoon Bluff is something you can park and walk to? Thunder point is well into the park.

Sounds like you are planning a lovely ceremony. To get advice you might want to clarify what you mean by in the BW. If I am finding the right place, Honeymoon Bluff is near but not in the BWCAW. That means no issue with more than 9 people together. But if you mean inside the BWCAW proper that means permits and needing to at least worry about being stopped by a ranger with an overly large group and the need for your group to do some paddling or hiking. Although there are some entry points that are on the pretty side and you could get married at one of those with no issues.

Clearwater palisades are....on a motor lake but in the BW kinda. Call Clearwater outfitters and see what they think, lots of vistas over that way. Or even better, while you're talking to them...ask for Erik and his Tumblehome podcast episode on their top vistas of the north woods. You'll hear lots of options and reviews there

I'd recommend looking through campsite ratings that have great sunset views as I'm guessing you're not waning to be paddling and portaging back to a campsite after the sunset.

Some of my favorite sunset views have come from lake level when it's mirror still and you have a great silhouette of pines on the horizon. Just a different take that gives you a lot more options and the ability to be a little more comfortable.

Though it's not completely clear, I read it as if there will be more than nine people in the group. I hate to be a downer on the plan, but that large a group cannot camp, travel, nor congregate together within the BWCA. That said, there are numerous options on the periphery of the Bdub that will very likely serve your purposes. Good luck.

We will be staying at clearwater this summer, right before our 5 day 4 night trip in with our 5 kiddos! I will be sure ask for him!

Then how about a Lake Superior vista? A state park? Split Rock? Tetagouche? There is an island that is a part of the breakwater to Grand Marais Harbor that the northeast end would work with vistas over the lake.

Trail's End Campground at the end of the Gunflint Trail may have the vistas you are looking for.

How about something like Seagull Outfitters? Rent a cabin or two overlooking Seagull Lake looking west for the nuptials.

I was counting the bridesmaids and groomsmen separately but now see that if they are the kids then it is 9. Great. And given the plan to get wed first and then paddle it works no matter what.

How about Kawishiwi Falls? It doesn't have a view towards the sunset, but the setting sun does light up the falls (and people taking pictures in front of the falls) beautifully. Friends of mine took wedding photos there and they turned out great. The falls are only about a mile hike from the parking lot and not in the BW.

Also, if you're looking for a photographer, my friends used Eric Sherman . He was a great guy to work with and the pictures were fantastic. To be clear, the picture here is one I took, not Eric.

A good chunk of it is boardwalk as I recall. No sunset option as the observation platforms face north. No clear view west.

-1 on the curmudgeons recommending not to get married. :-)
