Well...it's official. I'm returning to Quetico in 2021...couldn't be more excited. In 2012 I did 70 miles on a central/northeast route in Quetico with my oldest daughter and her Venture Crew. In 2016 I returned with my son and his Boy Scout Troop, doing 90 miles in the central/northwest of Quetico. Now in 2021 I get to return to northern Quetico with my youngest daughter and her Scouts BSA Troop! She is as excited to go as I am. I can't wait to return to the beauty!

Well at least you have plenty of time to plan. I plan my trips about 6 months out and those are the longest 6 months of my wife's life. It's the only thing I seem to talk about which drives her crazy as she just doesn't understand the draw that the north woods has on myself. We are leaving for Costa Rica in 10 days and haven't even mentioned it, but i do talk about the upcoming May trip up north. lol

I do wish that I could return more often. Scouting takes up most of my spare time right now. In a few years when my youngest is finishing up High School I may be able to dedicate more time for trips such as the north woods. Then I'll need to find a travel buddy!

Well, we're going in through Northern Tier as the "outfitter" so the kids will be the ones who plan the actual route once we get there. I'm going to take my map in this week and give them some ideas to think about before we go. I like Nym as an easy first day in. I may suggest Russel and Chatterton as a possibility if they want some flowing water to see...I've never been down to there. Sue Falls is a nice exit and falls, but its hard to get to the actual falls. We'll be in there for six days, so it's enough for a relaxed trip that gets down into the Sturgeon area. Any suggestions you can think of? Probably more for the sites than the fishing, although we'll do a little of that of course.

I have yet to do a northern entry since it’s more convenient for us to enter via the southern border, so others will have to chime in here.

Well...I am a little sad to say that based off current interest, we may be too big for Q. We'll find out in another month. If we have deposits for more than 8 I guess we'll be going into Crown Lands. Anyone been up there? Is Turtle River good? What about Northwest of White Otter or Southeast of it? Just looking for input. What is the paddling and camping like going north? I am still kind of hoping we're still small enough for Quetico...but I also want to give as many as I can the experience.
