Anyone have or use a Big Agnes Deep Creek bug shelter?
Just looking to get the net and not the tarp.
Want to be able to sit out in the evening as the sun is setting without being carried away.
My first trip we experienced about 3 mosquitoes. First week of August Mudro up and around Crooked and back down through the Gun/Fourtown route.
Last year was LLC between Boulder Bay and Tiger Bay on an Island and once the sun set they drove us into the tents. Last week of July.
This year is Mudro again but I'm not betting that geography is the major factor.
I have a tarp and could rig this under it but not a sure thing. Just want to enjoy those beautiful evenings by the fire with my fellow adventurers and not be thickly coated with bug dope.
Tomcat: "Are you exploring screen shelter options or just looking for reviews and recommendations for the Deep Creek?
My thoughts: Screen shelters, like all equipment choices vary widely with personal preferences. The number of people, your tripping style, price, weight, pack size, interior dimensions, convenience, and efficiency are some factors to consider.
I cook on a stove in my screen shelter but never place it over or near a wood fire.
A quality shelter will only be effective if properly setup and used. Preventing gaps and limiting entry and exit time will minimize the insects that share the interior space with you."
