Curious how you go about drying you're canvas tent out after returning from a winter outing before you put it away into storage.

So far I have been spoiled with an unfinished basement where I can hang or setup in the basement and leave for days or weeks on end before storing, but this will soon be ending as I'm about to sell the house and head out for a very long adventure. At best I would have a cold garage I could let it dry out in, which I don't think will work to well, but I haven't tried yet. Curious how you do it?

I hang my winter tent in the basement by hooks screwed into the floor joists. It's in the utility/furnace room so it thaws and dries out within a day or so. But it often hangs there for a week before I restuff it for the next trip.

My wife can't stand the smell of smokey winter camping gear so I am forced to dry/air mine (snowtrekker) out in the unheated garage. I hang it from the trusses and prop it open with a couple step ladders inside. I run a portable space heater for the first day or so to get the temp above freezing so everything melts. Also run a box fan inside of it for a couple days. haven't had a problem.

I toss my snow trekker on the carpeted basement floor, flipping it all over every few days. It stays there until I need to use it again, so I fold it, roll it and pack it.

I hang my Snowtrekkertents in a back hall way and try to lift the four corners to get the areas most likely to be wet or have ice chunks exposed to the air. I also put a fan on it to help dry. I generally feel in24hours it is bone dry and ready to be packed away.

Its nice to read about the different ways people dry there canvas tent. I wasn't to sure on how good a cold garage would work, good to see tg has had luck doing this.
Since my original post I talked to a buddy of mine and he said that I can setup my tent in his heated garage for a few days to let it dry out.

Maybe he will let you put a few bicycle hooks into the ceiling for easy hanging...
