How many batteries would you recommend taking for the action type (GoPro/SJ4000) camera? Considering a 6 day/5 night trip and occasional filming (1hr day). I know there are a lot of variables, but just curious as to what others experiences are. I do have a solar battery pack, but don’t know how effective it would be on that type of battery.

I didn’t use my GoPro a lot on our trip of 5d/4n but I did purchase a 20100mah Anker charger and had no issues keeping everything charged. Phone and camera batteries and still had plenty of charge to go. I could see having 2 batteries if you were filming a lot and have one charge while the other in use. I guess would depend if you already have the extra batteries and chargers as well but I did like having the portable charger for multiple uses.

I carried our GoPro last summer on a week long trip. I took short videos and numerous pictures each day. I brought quite a few extra batteries because I didn't want to count on being able to charge them with my small solar panel. If I remember correctly, I used 3 of them. Part of the reason I used that many was because sometimes my son would forget to turn off the camera.

I have one of those GoPros that doesn't have a removable battery so I'm at the mercy of recharging it at night. When I'm tripping I usually will have the camera mounted to the boat taking time lapse photos.
For recharging I carry an Anker power bank, 10A I think, and a 22W solar array to top up the bank during the day.
