Canada’s Justin Trudeau just closed the border to non-Canadians. It’s starting to look like I might not be doing my Ontario fly-in fishing trip in June, and instead going to the BWCA for a week!

I think it'll reopen by June.

I agree. They need that Iowa money! Haha. I wouldn’t scrap plans quite yet. These leaders have a burden on them to protect their citizens. But hopefully things will settle down by then.

I was just about to fire off my RABC app for May 31 entry. It may reopen by then, but I'm quite sure the app wont get looked at in the meantime and probably wouldnt get done in time once the restrictions are lifted.

Just relax. U.S. citizens are exempt. Thats what I am getting from the faa.
For now.

Americans are allowed to enter Canada, but... and this is the big "but"... each person has to self-isolate for 14 days upon arrival. I wonder if going into Quetico is considered self-isolation.

Correct, that is what I am reading also.

Send it in. It only costs about $25US, and if you don't have it, you can't go. It's also good for twelve months so even if this excitement prevents your May 31 trip, you'll have plenty of chances to reschedule.

Yes, but you have to spend a minimum of 14 days in Quetico. And then you need to reenter the US via the BWCA and do 14 days there.

Also, it needs to be a solo trip.

Our niece had to self-isolate for 14 days after returning from Germany to Israel. I am confident that she also would have preferred canoe country to her childhood bedroom.

Mine is on the counter in an envelope, all addressed and ready to go. I was waiting for a chance to get to the post office, but am gonna have to buy online postage, I guess.

I’ll hope it’s ready by June 12.

Now the border is closed. Except for essential travel.
I had planned on flying into my buddies cabin south of Red Lake Ontario this weekend, but it will have to wait.

03/18/2020 09:33AM
Yes that changed this morning?
I think in 8 weeks things will start opening up. It will still be around but the peak infection period will be over. But heck I know nothing about these things.

Except stay in the woods and go fishing your guaranteed not to get it.

Who is going to get hard probably is like Boy Scout camps,YMCA and many Church group outfitter types that cater to specific groups.

I think they need to close the Iowa/Illinois border and keep it closed and I am not too sure about the Iowa/Missouri border either.
