Three of America's most well-known national parks — Yellowstone, Grand Teton, and the Great Smoky Mountains — closed their gates Tuesday because of the coronavirus.

More parks have closed. Grand Canyon, Zion, Death Valley. There are more see the link at bottom of page.

As of April 4th Death Valley National Park is CLOSED including Furnace Creek Air Strip, Stove Pipe Wells Air Strip and The Chicken Strip. A week or so ago the Superintendent closed camp grounds and some other things, but now its a total shut down, The main highways through the Park will remain open to through traffic and the gas stations will remain open with partial service. I received this information from the Chief Ranger today.

Voyageurs National Park is Still Open; Visitor Centers & Headquarters are Temporarily Closed

Isle Royal is supposed to open April 15th. I am sure all the buildings and the hotel will be closed. Commercial travel to the Island by boat and plane will most likely be cancelled. I wonder if the Island will be open to those getting to the Island on there own?

This from out east.
Even amid stay-at-home orders, crowds have continued to arrive at numbers far greater than typically seen this time of year, employees said. What’s more, they are parking illegally, gathering en masse, stealing soap from restrooms, and leaving behind trash and waste — human waste.

As of now the bwca is staying open. Walk in offices closed.

More park closures and info.

Grand Canyon had a tour bus come in the other day. A little too much.

I see many National Parks like Teddy Roosevelt closing campgrounds but keeping some roads open and hiking.
North Dakota telling areas to not put out Fishing piers-much of what were seeing is maintain social distance attempts.

Ontario
In order to assist the province with its efforts to keep Ontarians safe during this time, all provincial parks will be closed to the public from March 19, 2020 until April 30, 2020.

This includes:

car camping
backcountry camping
roofed accommodations
day use opportunities
all public buildings

I had hoped to return to the parks in Utah for this Spring break.
Last time I visited I hiked some trails with my oldest son which I had planned to hike again with my second son, now 15 yo. Hidden Canyon trail and Angel's Landing trail at Zion were top of the list but, NPS closed those trails weeks ago. The entirety of ZIon NP was closed this past weekend at the request of the Utah Governor.

I feel kinda grateful. Closing Zion eliminates the lure of an ill advised road trip and prevents me from being the arse from MN potentially infecting the whole Colorado plateau.

If that last picture is recent, then that is just plain ignorant.
