I have purchased an old canoe. It's HIN is MFP 1311074, which I interpet as wenonah canoe, serial#131, October, 1974. However HINs are suppose to be 12 characters long and this one is only 10. I believe the serial # is short 2 characters. I know that HINs changed format in 1984. Were HINs shorter in 1974? I believe this canoe is a wenonah 17 but am not sure because the measurements are not spot on.
