Anybody have a Fenwick methods spinning travel rod they want to part with? Any suggestions on other good travel rods with a decent case/rod tube (spinning rods, around 7 ft, break down to 3 or 4 pieces, medium/medium heavy preferably) . I don't want telescopic.

Thanks.

The St. Croix Triumph Travel would also fit the bill. It's a four-piece rod available in a 6'6" length in medium-light, medium, and medium-heavy in a nylon roll case.

Travel rods are an addiction of mine. I have lots, most are out for a few years then discontinued. One of my all time favs is a Shimano Compre 3 pce. Bought in about 1995. It’s still a great rod 25 years later. 7’ medium power, fast action. It’s a ‘true’ medium power rod as most travel rods are rated higher in power than they actually are. The methods series is actually quite nice. I don’t have it but have looked at it and handled it many times. I think the new Fenwick HMG series travel rods are heavy and unbalanced. They feel horrible in hand. They are probably bang on in terms of rated power however. One of my favorites from Fenwick is the eagle series. I have a three pce medium, 6’6”. I would rate the power half way between medium and medium light. It’s light in the hand and a nice rod. Would be great for live baiting walleyes, slip bobbers, and casting shorelines for smallies etc. A bit too soft to be an ideal jigging rod. Quantum made several decent ones over the years, I have two different versions of their QXL rods but they are no longer made. Before you pull the trigger on a methods series rod (and I may be mistaken but I think they are now discontinued too), take a look at the Daiwa Ardito series. Really awesome rods at the price point. I have the three pce 7’ casting rod and it is very light, extra fast, and very nice quality. European spigot ferrules. The medium power is bang on, shading actually to slightly medium heavy. The spinning version is also really nice, I haven’t fished it but feels great in hand and well balanced. Hope this helps.

Travel rods are very dependent on your method of travel, 2 piece, 3 piece, all the way to a five piece for airline carry on...

I have both the Cabelas and St Croix travel rods. Both work well. I do like being able to throw them in the pack. One less loose item on the portage.
