Hello! I've been paddling the BWCA for most of my life. I grew up in Grand Rapids. I am wondering if any of you have ever found any publications that describe classic routes (in my ideal world there would be history about the routes written too! (I.e. height of lands ceremony)... I love books and I have to imagine that at one point someone published a set of classic routes. Any recommendations?

Thank you!

These are the two most classic books on routes:

Beymers - Western Region

Beymers Eastern Region

I can also recommend "Exploring the Boundary Waters" by Daniel Pauly. The first 28 pages are the author's summary of the natural and human history of the boundary waters.

You can find Beymer's and Pauly's books (and many others) under the Books tab on this website.
