Looking for a bug shelter that will pack reasonably. Big enough for two. Prefer no poles, but can be hung. Any suggestions? Wow! sorry there is already a discussion on this.

I have used my CCS Lean3 Plus on trips as a combo tarp and bug shelter.
We slept in a tent.
Very very versatile shelter.

I like the 9x9 Nemo Bugout. It's just right for 2. No poles, just hang it like you would a tarp.

That is what I do as well. The lean gets set up first, a cheapo small tarp down on the ground inside, and as stuff is unpacked it goes on the tarp in the lean. The back of the lean serves to keep things dry and a few chairs can be set in the tall part of the lean. Since I take my dog, she sometimes gets put in there too.

My wife and I have used two different options, one is the Nemo Bugout shelter but the problem with it is the weight and bulk of it. The other option is we use a Sea to Summit Box net shelter and have it tied up under our CCS tarp. It is a lot lighter than the Nemo and less bulky. Mosquito shelter

Is the Sea to Summit netting mesh small enough to keep the no see um out?

We haven't had too much of a problem with them. It is a fairly fine mesh.

The Sea to Summit netting is 500 holes per square inch. Compare that to 180 for the Coghlans double box and 240 for the Coghlans backwoods double box. So it is very fine mesh. A quick google search has different sources claiming anywhere from 400-600 should be adequate for no see ums. I used to use a Coghlans backwoods but it’s been replaced by the Sea to Summit double box which is a much higher quality. Unfortunately, you’ll have to keep an eye on EBay to find one.

My two preferred solutions as well for similar reasons. The Nemo Bugout goes on small group trips with 3-4 people to divide and carry gear. Even with four people in chairs and a few packs it feels spacious. Use the Sea to Summit Box net hung under CCS tarp on solo and tandem trips. I have had four people playing cards in Helinox type chairs and a small table under the box net set up. It was cozy but worked fine too.
