OK, Jerry Vandiver gets it. Most of you all on here get it, but I had to buy another boat. I know I already have 4 knooz, with a fifth one under construction. And I also have three kayaks. And I have no where to put it. But I had to buy it. Or rescue it. While out violating our governor's "safer at home" order, I was driving down the highway and came upon an abandoned (not really) aluminum knoo along the road with a For Sale sign on it. Almost after I answered the obvious question, "Do I really need another boat," I had done a U-turn to check it out. It was definitely an older boat, but very clean. No dents, no bad rivets or scratches. The keel was as straight as possible, no oil canning. The seats were in real good shape. Looked real sleek too. When the owner came over to talk to me, he informed me it was an 18 footer. I lifted it a bit, and it didn't seem any heavier than most of the 17 footers I've hoisted. The asking price was $100, OBO. The guy told me his wife thought that might be too high of an asking price. He said he was just trying to clean out a yard garage, the kids hadn't used it in years, and he hoped it was a fair asking price. I didn't have the heart to try and talk him down . . . and now you know the rest of the story. Tomorrow it gets wet, but today it's got a new owner.
God let Peter walk on water. To the rest of us He gave knoos.

Sounds like a deal. Most aluminums are listed on CL for between $400 and $600. Had a similar situation to your seller when I sold my son's Atari 2600 with 50 or 60 game cartridges a couple of years ago. I listed it for $50 on CL and withing 2 hours I had over 30 replies. When the first guy showed up with the cash I commented that it must be wroth more given the response. He just said, "yeah" and laughed.

I wouldn’t have. Already have two aluminum canoes. Plus, our first one only cost $50 so maybe you overpaid. Kidding. We bought that one 20 years ago, it needed some repairs, and the guy was honorable and turned down an offer of $100 on the way to sell it to us. Sounds like a deal.

I sold one years ago, but for more than you paid. Was a really good deal for buyer and it made room for my first Kevlar canoe. I was happy at the time and do not regret "giving" it away even today.

You did very well on the price. I volunteer with a nature center in SE Wisconsin and last year they asked me to find some nice used aluminum canoes for the rental fleet. I looked for and purchased 4 Grumman canoes for $300-400.00 each from separate sellers. I was authorized to pay no more than $400.00. I did not get several which were very nice but the sellers insisted on more money.
