I was looking to replace the bunks on my boat trailer (16' rowboat) because it was such a bear to winch up onto the bunks. I was looking at rollers, etc, when I saw an internet chat tip to spray the bunks with silicone lubricant. I never would have believed the difference it makes. There is literally less friction now than there would be with rollers.
So I got that going for me, which is nice.

I'll have to give that a shot. So you spray right on the carpet?

So when I see that oil slick at the boat ramp, I'll know you are out there fishing..

Haha i was thinking this too. Just don't get her so slick that it slides off your trailer before you're backed in the water! I saw a guy do that w/ a roller trailer in MN a few years back. Backed halfway down, unhooked winch and gave rope to someone on the dock, got back in and backed in a bit farther and tapped the brakes and away she went! Motor first onto the ramp and slid into the water. I left after that...
