Too many logistics in play. We'll give it a go next year.

That said... If you fancy that lake and want to check it out, go ahead.

Don’t want to be the only one so I will not be making the attempt either.

We have not made a solid plan this year... Maybe we'll see you next year.

Stumpy- understood...who knows what the bureaucratic situation will be on that date for permitting, border crossing, and all that. So to meet up in the Quetico will be like you say...too many logistics.

But I was kinda looking forward to this...and I'm not ready to just say the heck with it.

So my plan is this-

Bushwhackers Jamboree 2020 is cancelled but the Covid2020 is scheduled for that same date (Sunday June 14th) with the same idea only the Covid2020 will be at a lake in the BWCA near the Ely area Entry Points. The lake is chosen and has no portage but looks to be a relatively easy bushwhack to get into. Of course, I have never been into it yet, but I will be there and then I will know! Email me if you are serious and want the lake name.

This is a go regardless of the state of the covid19 bug, governmental restrictions, mosquito hatches, rain or shine. If you are not tired of the covid over reaction, don't believe in individual freedom, or are in fear of a little hardship...do not try this. If you make it, expect to have to break the six foot distancing rule too, because I will extend my hand in a handshake gesture like we used to do in the old days (if you really want to, we can just slap paddles).

Agree with your sentiments BeaV.

"This is a go regardless of the state of the covid19 bug, governmental restrictions, mosquito hatches, rain or shine. If you are not tired of the covid over reaction, don't believe in individual freedom, or are in fear of a little hardship"

Hell yeah.

I read somewhere that a Canadian described "it's like living upstairs from a meth lab". They won't be opening the border till at least 2021 IMO.

It's cool and all to show bravado but people also need to be sensitive to the situation. My high school buddy spent 3 days in the hospital and still hasn't fully recovered three weeks later. Think what you want but it's no joke. That said I'm all for canoeing in the parks responsibly.

Theres always a few that screw it up for everyone. A little patience now, would speed this whole situation up.

Did the thread on the Covid 19 jamboree get deleted?

Let's remember the lake is near Ely and the SNF and BWCA is open for day trips possibly or probably making this all quite within the rules and regulations.

If i were within a tank of gas round trip, I might go. Unfortunately it's several tanks one way so I won't make it. If I just had that solar powered camper/van - only limited by water and black water tanks......

Banksiana no disrespect, I don't see anyone knowing "shit" about his disease.
I do see people moving around more now regardless of the rules. I will do what is asked of me by Walz and Trump. If we are still locked down in a year I won't feel that way.
I am an essential employee and have not missed a day of work.

The big deal breaker is if you are getting paid to stay home and that is a lot of public employees. Including the house of representatives. I know 2 people that work for the state one an art director and the other a archaeologist. Both on paid vacation while I am working and paying them with my taxes. They feel no need to go back to work. Yet food workers getting paid next to nothing and working so we don't starve to death. They are paying taxes so public employees don't have to work. I am not talking about cops, teachers, firefighters, etc...they are still working. If I was told to stay home and could not feed my family without working I am sure I would put my family first.

Same with unemployment. I am a business owner and because of that I am ineligible to collect unemployment. Yet just last week I paid into the state unemployment fund and I have never laid anyone off or had an employee collect unemployment. Seems odd the only ones that can collect unemployment are those that don't pay into it.

I have seen how fast people of this forum turn on each other and the post goes bad.

So I will not comment anymore on VD19 today.

Take care everyone and be safe.

Yesterday I was called a drama queen for going be the rules. I laughed!! So for awhile I am signing my name as the …

DRAMA QUEEN transgender ya know!

You were not the target of the drama queen comment, FYI. Thank you for being a business owner and paying your taxes and supporting unemployment and doing ALL the right things. I could be sitting on my butt right now doing nothing and collecting unemployment, that's not my in my nature, I chose to go work for the state agency that is handling all the unemployment claims for the state of wisconsin and helping them with their overload.

Tough time to be a business owner. I’m a union carpenter and still working luckily. My wife works in a spa so she is is collecting unemployment and teaching our children from home. What type of business are you in?

I'm frustrated that a few people have enjoyed sabotaging threads to the point of deletion.

I am frustrated that a few people still feel that they must be the ones to tell humanity how to enforce the rules.
Keep your side of the street clean.
Please respect other peoples' opinions and please don't shove yours down my throat, and I won't shove mine down yours.

When you think you have all the answers and are certain you are right, it is then that you are the most wrong.

I agree, it seems for the most part the tried and trusty people who have posted for years are able to keep their emotions in check. Alot of people I never knew before seem to throw alot of crap out without knowing the rules, like this is facebook.

I'm sure BWCA.com appreciates your donation, I was very willing to donate another 20 bucks as well.
Edit: I'll send 20 bucks as well, like I said I kinda cheated.
The mods have been doing a swell job keeping this site running and informing us in these trying times.

We have 3 trips to Ely planned. Hopefully they all work out. We are loosing a lot of shops and restaurants by our place in South Minneapolis. Very strange and sad. Good luck with everything!

I've been paddling and hiking all spring, haven't had to break the WI or MN governor's orders or any other rule or law, there are lots of interesting places to paddle and hike if you use your noggin'
