Heading to Alder Lake area (EP 64) the end of May. Does anyone have any experience fishing this lake and/or near by lakes? If so, what locations and lures/bait rigs would you recommended for end of May?
Thanks

Haven't been there in about six years. Caught Walleye and bass on Alder. Walleye was on a Green Pumpkin Zoom speed worm on a Texas rig and Bass on a Watermelon red Zoom Fluke on a Texas rig. Caught Lake Trout on Crystal and Pierz.

Good multi-species action in that area. Walleyes, bass, northerns, lake trout, splake, and brook trout all can be had, although I've never caught a splake there. Check out the Minnesota DNR lakefinder.

I only fished Alder once and then it was on my way out of the area. We were trolling for lake trout. It take some time to track down the lakers due to the size of the lake. There are at least a few good sites on the northern shore that I paddled past. Spoons and taildancers (20 to 30' divers) were recommended by others.
