We think Silky saws are the best. Japanese-made, super sharp, tough and long-lasting, with replaceable blades. One of these in each canoe for collecting firewood and clearing portage trails of smaller trees and limbs and a hatchet for splitting beaver wood are all we carry. REI carries the Silky line of saws.

I have a Sven Saw now, but have heard a lot about the Silky. Will have to check them out.

I have been using my Laser-vision to both slice wood and start fires ever since interacting with a radioactive meteor I encountered on a BWCA trip a few years ago. All a bit redundant though as a quick shot of laser-vision to my pot cooks my food in just a few seconds, no fire required.
OK, OK I am just kiddin'... It is actually the enormous beaver teeth I was born with that ...
Oh Wow! I think I am coming down with something...
Yep, just googled the symptoms. As per WebMD, I am pretty sure I have Cabinless Fever. Appropriate treatment is to drive the inflicted deep into the wilderness and drop them off. If they ever return home, they will be cured.
Checked out your site Springer2. Nice BWCA pics

My third Silky Bigboy (14+ inch blade) is supposed to arrive on Thursday. Why 3? The first lies at the bottom of a chute in WCPP. #2 was borrowed and returned with a slight kink in the blade. It is still usable, but not nearly as efficient as it used to be. I looked into replacing the blade, but when I discovered I could just purchase a new one for $20.00 more, it became a no brainer which way I'd go!
I have the Sven, Sawvivor and Irwin saws, but for canoe tripping ... I always slot in on the Silky for packabililty and performance!

"If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs" chances are you missed something. (Inspired by Rudyard Kipling.)
