Mille Lacs County Sheriff's Office Posted a safety alert for the Rum river:
SAFETY ALERT: For those who are planning on a trip down the Rum River from Onamia, MN, the Soo Line Trail trestle in Onamia is completely blocked off by floating bog that got swept down the river. This is a very dangerous situation for anyone planning a canoe/kayak trip from Onamia. You must put into the Rum River south of the old Trestle. This blockage has the potential to pull craft/people under the blockage and become trapped. Please DO NOT put in the Rum River at the Onamia Dam. Thank you and please be safe.
