Maybe I should have re-phrased, what's a lake you enjoy off the beaten path - not trying to get people to share secrets. Yeeesh.
My favorite lake off the beaten path is Chad lake. It's an enjoyable small lake with some islands and decent fishing that probably doesn't see many visitors coming from the Trout entry point.

Bologna. One portage in from the Frost River and only one campsite. The site does not get used much, so most people would not like it much but I was glad to spend two nights here weathering storms. I found the lake especially beautiful and enjoyed paddling the perimeter before leaving.

The lake Martin named Poodle in Woodland Caribou... nothing real special. Just a fun lake to get to and from and very scenic. The other one up there he’d dubbed Side Rock I think. Again nothing special... same attributes and very rarely visited making it kinda cool in itself. Speaking of cool... I remember waking up to 38 degrees on that lake. Great memories!
In the BWCA I had several... but Boulder north of Adams was my favorite. I’d move there if I could! Haha!

Fearlessleader: "Raven Lake. Just visited on a day trip one year but if I was looking to hang out in a PMA some time I would give this serious consideration. Beautiful lake. "
I am gonna say Raven also. The trip into it is interesting and the lake looks inviting. I only went on the lake to get water the after spending the night but would like to return. It's known to have lakers.
Dr. William (Bill) Rom wrote a book about his travels in the BW and beyond back around the 1950's - '60's and has a story about Raven Lake that I never forgot.
This book is out of print but I found a used one online if anyone wants it. Really good stories here.

Bench Lake. Portaged in there once with a friend. We were in search of late-season browns. It's surrounded by ridges that make it feel secluded. No campsites. The portage in is more of "suggestion" rather than a moose trail. It was an adventure. :)

Just outside of the BW south of Isabella Lake is Section 29 Lake. I have camped there many times, it has three primitive campsites, I have also dispersed camped on the otherside of the lake a few times.
It was the end of my division when I was on the Pagami fire, most of the lake shore was missed by the fire except a small area on the north east side.

May the rivers be crooked and winding, and your portages lonesome, leading to the most amazing view.

I'd really like to give some away but I can't bring myself to do it. Wantonwan was a really neat area though especially if you work your way towards Short lake and there is a super cool area if you make a wrong turn lol.

One of my favorites is Smite. It used to have two maintaine portages but, as with many places with redundant routes, the forest service let it fall into disrepair. Most folks head through Beaver and into Adams instead of adding one lake in between (and the Beaver/Adams portage is one of my all-time favs.) The portages through Smite are only partially useful now (and you can for sure paddle through the north one.) I tried climbing the amazing high point on the north shore of Smite, but blowdown (looked like '99) makes it rather treacherous. The view though is incredible as you can see into the PMA and beyond.

Treebear, in your opinion would a person be able to get in there with a canoe on a day trip? Have you fished in there? Thanks in advance.

We spent a week on Ella Hall Lake. Was dead end and we actually found only 2 of the campsites when there. While we did not bushwhack for further site exploration some 10 years ago, there is not much backup if the 2 better sites are taken, we got lucky and had no problems. Go to the island for a marker for Ella and you can connect with some of the Lake's history you can research fairly easily. We fished for anything which would bite, and came up with bass and Northerns of medium to small sizes,
the greatest come backs are reserved for those with the greatest deficits.
