Have been BW & Q tripping for just a few years now but minimal wildlife sightings so far. Sounds of wolves, plenty of loons, but have never seen any (flying) moose or other mammals!

Anyone have any favorite lakes that the animals also love?? Always unpredictable, but this is more fun than shutdown talk.

Hoping my August trip to the Q still happens.

I have seen moose, loons, eagles, all the usual stuff. My favorite sights have been bears and once, a lynx.

My only suggestion for seeing wildlife is to travel early and fish the shoreline near dusk. Those are the times when I usually see the memorable animals.

My most exciting encounter was when a mama moose and her twin calves swam by my site while I was eating breakfast. The key to that sighting was being really tired after a long day of paddling, and accepting the site right next to the swamp that the moose came from! Had to get in the hammock early the night before because of the mosquitos, but it was worth it the next morning!

Moose several times in inlets of the lakes north of Agnes, a couple of bears on distant shores, two bear cubs in the stream just above Louisa Falls, and here is a picture of an immature male bald eagle we paddled right up to in the narrows of Batchew... Lake. You will see more moose if not doing a lot of shouting.

If you want to see a bear just head to South Arm Knife. They will find you! I was fortunate to encounter a mother moose and calf feeding where the Darky River dumps into Minn Lake, and also had a bear swim across a small bay in front of us when paddling on Saganagons a couple years ago. Usually though it's pretty quiet.

Traveling early in the morning and being as quiet as possible will considerably up your odds of seeing wildlife.

Haha, well worded about shouting. Realisically, on several occassions, I have been in the lead canoe on a stream and have excellent pictures of moose we quietly paddled by, while the noisy gabblers in the following canoe saw nothing with the moose into the woods.

Over the years I have seen a lot of wildlife. The key is being quiet!
